Quick answer: HPV 35 is a carcinogenic high-risk genotype. Some assays report it within a 35/39/68 channel, which is not the same as individual genotyping.

What does an HPV 35 positive result mean?
HPV 35 is clinically different from the low-risk wart-associated HPV types. A positive result does not diagnose CIN, but it should be interpreted within cervical screening pathways.
HPV 35 positive but Pap smear normal
For HPV 16/18-negative 35/39/68-positive results, cytology or approved dual-stain triage may be used depending on the assay and clinical context.
What if it is positive again?
Two positive 35/39/68 grouped results do not prove HPV 35 persisted unless the assay identified HPV 35 individually.
How should grouped laboratory results be read?
A 35/39/68 result means the assay detected at least one target in that channel if the test groups them; it should not be rewritten as “HPV 35 positive” without individual typing.
Is HPV 35 covered by vaccination?
HPV 35 is not one of the genotypes directly targeted by the 9-valent vaccine. Vaccination may still protect against the vaccine-covered types.
When can colposcopy or biopsy become relevant?
Colposcopy and biopsy decisions are based on the genotype, cytology or dual-stain result where appropriate, previous screening, prior CIN2/3 treatment and the clinical context. HPV genotype alone is not a biopsy diagnosis.
