Pregnancy guide · Şişli, Istanbul
A late period, breast tenderness, tiredness and nausea can suggest pregnancy, but symptoms cannot confirm it. They can also overlap with premenstrual changes. A correctly timed pregnancy test is more useful than counting symptoms.
When might symptoms begin?
Some people notice changes around their expected period; others feel little different for several weeks. Symptoms can vary between pregnancies. Neither nausea nor its absence proves that a pregnancy is developing normally.
Pregnancy weeks are usually counted from the first day of the last period, rather than the date of intercourse. Irregular cycles can make this estimate less reliable.
When should I take a test?
Most home urine tests are more reliable from the first day of a missed period. If you do not know when your period is due, test at least 21 days after the last unprotected intercourse. Follow the kit instructions and read the result within its stated time window.
If an early test is negative and your period does not arrive, repeat it after a few days. Arrange assessment if the second test is negative but the delay continues. Blood pregnancy testing in Istanbul may be appropriate depending on the circumstances.
What happens after a positive result?
Arrange an initial appointment and bring your last period date, medication list and any previous results. A positive test alone does not establish the location or ongoing development of the pregnancy. Symptoms and dates help determine when an ultrasound is useful. See the English pregnancy care guide.
Common questions
Can I be pregnant without symptoms?
Yes. Symptoms are variable and their absence does not rule out pregnancy.
Does spotting prove implantation?
No. Spotting has several possible causes. Bleeding or pain with a positive test needs clinical advice.
